In this last video lesson of the group dedicated to V. Woolf, J. Joyce and the Stream of Consciousness I analyse Joyce’s main themes: “paralysis” and “epiphany”. The former being the inability for Dubliners, in general, and for Joyce’s characters specifically, to go beyond their psychological bonds to tradition and family oriented life styles that stops them from making any change in their lives depiste their desider to. The latter is instead that moment of “sudden spiritual manifestation” that empowers them with inner insightful awareness allowing them to finally reach the true core of the reality surrounding them and the one that lays deep within them, regardless of its potential or actual outcome.
